ENOVA and HANSAINVEST Real Assets agree long-term wind energy partnership

The Wind energy projector ENOVA Energiesysteme GmbH & Co. KG (ENOVA) and HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH (HANSAINVEST) have agreed on a long-term strategic partnership in the field of wind energy. This includes the establishment of a new company, an Independent Power Producer (IPP). The asset manager provides mezzanine capital to ENOVA IPP. The experienced family business will use this capital for the acquisition of own and third party wind farms. The investment focus is already on wind energy projects as well as those that are currently still in the planning and approval phase. The goal: By the end of 2019, more than 100 megawatts of power are to be acquired by the IPP.

In a first investment step, ENOVA IPP has already acquired four wind farms with a total capacity of approx. 25 MW bought and financed by mezzanine capital.

“The cooperation with HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH enables us to strategically expand our business model,” said ENOVA Managing Directors Helmuth and Hauke Brümmer. “The closed cooperation offers many advantages for us: we can keep the wind farms in the long term property. At the same time, we can use the capital released to finance our expansion and capitalize on market opportunities.”

For HANSAINVEST, the investment in the strategic partnership means an expansion of the project portfolio and a steady and predictable cash flow over 20 years – with significantly leaner cost structures compared to conventional investment funds. “Our successful infrastructure investment strategy continues with the creation of ENOVA IPP. ENOVA is an experienced market player with an excellent track record. With this transaction, we secure a pipeline of attractive products. With ENOVA as a partner we can invest in a diversified project pipeline – even in less windy years, this structure allows for a safe return on invested capital with an attractive risk-return profile, “says Nicholas Brinckmann, Managing Director of HANSAINVEST Real Assets.

Independent Power Producers, or IPP for short, in the electricity industry are those operators of power plants and other types of electrical generation systems who, unlike “traditional” power companies, do not have their own power grid to control the transmition and distribution of the produced electrical energy.

ENOVA was supported in this transaction by esmera.partners and PWC Legal, HANSAINVEST by fieldfisher, Baker Tilly and TÜV Süd.

ENOVA takes over the technical management of three wind farms in the Greater Bremen area

After taking over the technical operations management in Neuss-Hoisten already this year, ENOVA now looks after three further wind farms in the area of Bremen with an installed capacity of around 19 MW.

Operators were now offered the option of operating their wind farms profitably, above all through the services of the “smart” package.

Wind farm Neuss-Hoisten in good hands – ENOVA takes over technical management

After ENOVA has already planned and erected the two Enercon E82 wind turbines in the Neuss-Hoisten wind farm as general contractor, the technical management is now also being taken over.

Stadtwerke Neuss Energie und Wasser GmbH as operator can thus have a strong partner at their side. By means of permanent monitoring, detailed analyzes and the constant search for optimization potential, the basis is created to achieve a maximum energy yield.

Individual performance packages in operational management: Enova takes over the project development and operations management for another 40 MW in Emsland

ENOVA continues to expand its presence in Emsland. Together with the wind turbines built from 2001 to 2004, ENOVA projected and built 66 megawatts of wind energy capacity in Emsland. Last summer, the Börger Ohe 1 wind farm was successfully put into operation. After a construction period of just under nine months, the company from the East Frisian town of Bunderhee completed four ENERCON E-115 plants on schedule and on budget. Since then, the 3 MW wind turbines with a hub height of 149 m and a rotor diameter of 115 m deliver an energy yield of approx. 31 GWh / a and thus cover the annual energy requirement of more than 9,000 households. “ENOVA acted as the general contractor and we are therefore all the more pleased that the implementation of the wind farm has proceeded so smoothly and also in terms of nature conservation. For the first time, we successfully placed public participation in this project in the form of crowdfunding directly via our Internet platform “, explain Managing Directors Hauke Brümmer and Dirk Warnecke.

Two more windfarms in construction

For the wind farms Börger Ohe 2 and Breddenberg-Ohe the permits according to the Federal Immission Control Act were obtained at the end of last year and the parks are currently under construction. Initial construction measures such as access roads and foundations for the nine wind turbines have already been started. In the summer of this year, ENOVA plans to commission the turbines with a rated output of 3.2 MW and a hub height of 149 m in Börger and 122 m in Breddenberg. In these wind farms too, project planning is carried out by ENOVA as the general contractor. With the completion of the substation “Börger Nord”, also planned by ENOVA, in December 2016, the integration of the wind farms into the electricity grid is secured.

Wind farm management for optimal operation and maximum yield

The family-owned company ENOVA has been active in the field of renewable energies since 1989 and is one of the pioneers in the industry. In the future, she will provide her high level of competence in the technical management and commercial management of wind turbines to the wind farms in Börger and Breddenberg.

“For more than 20 years, we have provided business and management services to our customers. We want to offer this experience to further interested parties in the future. “, Says Ralf Brinkema, Head of techn. Management. The new ENOVA concept offers customized customer-specific support for wind farms.

To emphasize is the need-based compilation by means of ENOVA service packages and modules:

A small, smart package that only includes services that are necessary for maximum energy output. A “save package” that secures the operator and in which, above all, services in the area of occupational safety or plant inspections are taken over. And last but not least, various extra services that help the customer to make the operation of the wind farm as simple and transparent as possible. Brinkema: “With these service packages, we can map every individual customer request, and at attractive conditions.”

Public participation is successfully placed – thank you for relying on green power

The full placement of the public participation for windfarm Börger Ohe 1 brought a successful year-end closing 2016. Through this public participation initiated by ENOVA many citizens bring a wind of change into lower Saxon Emsland and invest in a green future. Over 60 investors settled their trust in ENOVA and partly financed the Börger Ohe 1 wind farm with 400.000€.
Since the second quarter of the last year the wind farm feeds-in its generated energy already.

For this pleasant reason we would like to offer you a further public participation in March this year. For more information, please visit our website www.buergerbeteiligungen.enova.de

Pleasant year-end closing – approval obtained for a repowering project in Weener

Just in time dor the end of 2016, the administrative district of Leer has approved the repowering project according to the Bundesimmisionsschutzgesetz (BImSchG).

On 22 December 2016 the licensing procedure was completed and positively approved by the county’s emission control authority. ENOVA Energieanlagen GmbH was commissioned by Hebu Windkraft GmbH & Co. KG to plan and implement the repowering of the old Vestas 66 plant in the industrial area of Weener. The old plant of the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas will be replaced by a more efficient new Enercon E-92 system. With a hub height of 85 m and a rotor diameter of 92 m, the rated output can be increased from 1.65 MW to 2.35 MW.  Concurrent with the start of 2017 the foundation construction and the installation of improvements can be started. This year, commissioning is planned.

For ENOVA this is already the second repowering of a wind turbine in the industrial area of Weener. In the immediate vicinity, ENOVA has at the end of 2015 put into operation an Enercon E101 for the Klingele paper mill.
