WE CHANGE WIND INTO VALUES

ENOVA Team
With foresight, we consistently focus on developing sustainable solutions and protecting the climate. We use the wind to create value that generates growth. With their expertise and start-up mentality, the entire ENOVA team has aspired to this for over 30 years.

Competence

Renewable energies have been our passion for over thirty years. Through our considerable expertise and active commitment over the decades, we’ve developed a range of wind energy services that set standards in the industry.

The breadth of these services makes us unique. Each of our areas creates its own value, and together we develop the power needed to drive the energy transition. We are ENOVA.

What we do

We recognised early on that generating energy from wind is part of what will drive the energy turnaround throughout Germany. We have successfully planned, projected and developed numerous wind farms.

One of our responsibilities for the future is to develop new locations nationwide. By doing so we will help to continue wind energy’s success story over the decades to come.

ENOVA acquires the 15th repowering project

ENOVA has acquired the Panten-Bälau wind farm and at the same time entered into a partnership for repowering. It is now the 15th repowerable wind farm in Germany that ENOVA has acquired. The company, which is located in Hamburg and has its headquarters in Bunde, Lower Saxony, is starting a flagship project in Schleswig-Holstein.

At the Panten-Bälau wind farm, the old wind turbines on the existing sites are to be replaced with new, more efficient turbines as part of the repowering project. The Panten-Bälau wind farm was built in 2002 and comprises 16 NEG Micon NM 52/900 with 0.9 MW each and a total installed capacity of 14.4 MW. Together with its cooperation partner Naturwind, ENOVA plans to increase the output of the farm to 40 to 65 MW. The Panten-Bälau repowering project will be one of ENOVA's largest onshore wind farm projects since its foundation.

"We are pleased that we were able to enter into the cooperation with Naturwind as part of the transaction and thus have an established and qualified cooperation partner at our side to implement the repowering," said René Meyer, Senior Investment Manager of ENOVA. ENOVA is looking forward to further joint exchange with the communities of Panten and Bälau as well as the local citizens in order to successfully advance the repowering planning. The transaction was legally advised by Kapellmann & Partner and the financial, commercial and technical due diligence was performed in-house by the experienced investment team and technical operations experts.

ENOVA has acquired old wind farms with around 150 MW since 2021. "With the acquisition of the Panten-Bälau wind farm, we can significantly expand our footprint in Schleswig-Holstein." said Hauke Brümmer, Managing Director of ENOVA, adding, "We want to play an active role in driving forward the energy transition in Germany and plan to acquire further wind farms with repowering potential and a cumulative capacity of up to 300 MW over the next few years."

About ENOVA

The ENOVA Group, based in Bunde and Hamburg, is a family business with 80 staff that develops, manages and invests in renewable energy projects.

The company’s services cover four areas of core competence. It all began in 1989 with engineering, planning and constructing onshore and offshore wind turbines.

The company’s technical and commercial management builds on this expertise, administrating ENOVA’s own and third-party wind farms throughout Germany, a process united in its own asset management software e.live.

To this is added technical maintenance and servicing by ENOVA Service GmbH, an independent service provider and specialist in Enercon turbines.

The portfolio is managed by Investment & Asset Management, which launched an independent power producer (ENOVA IPP) in 2017 and founded a second investment vehicle (ENOVA Value) in 2020 which focuses on the acquisition of old wind farms in Germany. As of 2021, ENOVA Value has over 100 MW of onshore wind assets in Germany and has already received repowering permits and tender awards for 40 MW.

ENOVA has obtained around 1,800 MW of wind energy permits since 1989 and provides services for hundreds of wind turbines in Germany.

ENOVA acquires another repowering project

ENOVA Value GmbH has acquired together with WindStrom Unternehmensgruppe from Edemissen the wind farm Schacht-Konrad / Alvesse with a total of 5.4 MW, consisting of 3 Enercon E-66 with 1.8 MW each. The turbines were previously maintained by the subsidiary ENOVA Service GmbH. With the purchase of the park, the technical management as well as the asset management has now also been handed over to ENOVA. With the exception of the commercial management, which is carried out by our long-standing partner WindStrom, ENOVA can thus serve all areas from its own service portfolio.

With the acquired wind farm, another repowering project will be realized with our long-standing partner WindStrom. Thanks to the new regulatory provisions, WindStrom and ENOVA will be able to submit the BImSchG application this year. Commissioning is planned for the next two to three years.

"Thanks to the trusting cooperation with WindStrom, we are very confident that we will also be able to bring the Schacht-Konrad / Alvesse wind farm into the process in a timely manner in order to increase green value creation in the region," says Björn Burau, Team Leader Investment & Asset Management.

The Schacht-Konrad / Alvesse wind farm is now the 13th wind farm project acquired by ENOVA Value GmbH in around 2.5 years. The entire portfolio thus amounts to a total of around 135 MW. Together with local partners we aim to replace the wind farms with state-of-the-art wind turbines and to double or even in some cases triple the capacity. The first repowered WTGs (7x N-163 with a total of 39.9 MW) at the Waldfeucht wind farm in NRW will go into operation this summer.
